Bea and the New Deal Horse
By L.M. Elliott
Continued...
As usual, Elliot has done her research and the historical facts sprinkled throughout the book are revealing and offer the reader a deeper glimpse into this time. We gain new insights into the racism, FDR's New Deal, the charlatans of the time and the economic hardships during the Depression.
It's clear that Elliot is passionate about horses and well versed in the competitive world, as she brings the reader right into the arena with Bea. We can see and feel the horse cantering and leaping over jumps and we are with Bea at every stride. Being a lifelong horse woman, I admired her skill at bringing the reader into the deep relationship of a girl and a horse.

Girls who love horses will admire the boldness of Bea and will love the personalities and the sensitivities of the horses.
But this isn't just for horse lovers. The history, the struggles and the development of all the key characters will steal your heart.
